Shimmer Resist

Well…as promised…I’m back with another fab technique.  This is the first time I have tried this and I have to say it’s something that I am going to use over and over again.   It’s much easier than I thought it would be and I know you will love the result. Why not give it a go?

  • Pour a small amount of Frost White Shimmer Paint on to a paper plate.
  • With a piece of loosely screwed up cling wrap, apply paint to glossy white card stock.  Allow to dry.
  • Using a brayer and ink pad (I used real red), roll colour onto the brayer and then roll over the cardstock until you get the desired shade of colour.
  • In a circular motion, rub a cotton wool ball over the card to remove excess ink.

There you have it.  Your own hand-made card stock.

I’ve used my shimmery card to make the hearts on this sweet valentine’s card and I’ve entered it into this week’s Less is More Challenge.  It’s been a while since I have gone back to basics and think this sketch is simply stylish so I thought I’d give it a go.

And here is the sketch

Water Colouring

My new year’s resolution was to participate in at least one blog challenge a week in the hope of ensuring that no matter how busy my working week is I would be sure to get some crafting time every week. Well…it’s only the first month of 2012 and I have already missed a week. Not too worry…this week I’ve decided to enter several challenges to make up for it. I love challenges because they help me to create, particularly on those days when I’m stumped and don’t know where to start. Lately, I’m finding sketch challenges the best because they allow me to team up my own colours, stamps and paper whilst giving me a starting point.

This week, I am going to use each challenge to show you some simple techniques to make the most of your stash. My last two challenge entries, showcased fussy cutting, used to create dimension and depth to my projects. Today’s technique is water colouring and I’ve entered this card in the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 225. All you need to get started is an ink pad and a blender pen.

And here is the sketch

Sending Many Thanks

This sweet little stamp set is now retired but I simply had to pull it out to make a thank you card for a friend.

After stamping the girl across the card using Staz On Jet Black Ink, I stamped two onto small scraps from the Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack. I then used the fussy cutting technique to cut out the kimono and flowers and attached them using 2-way glue.  Simple, yet very effective.

I have entered this card into two challenges Do You Stack Up – Pink and Simon Says Stamp – Spots and Stripes

More Everyday Enchantments Sneak Peeks

Fussy cutting is a technique that I don’t use as much as I should and I thought I’d come back to it today after stumbling upon another challenge blog, SU-Only Challenges

The best thing about fussy cutting is that you don’t need many supplies.  All you need is a set of small super sharp scissors, a steady hand and patience.  Used with Stampin’ Dimensionals, this technique gives your projects dimension and allows you to make the most of your stamp collection.

I have entered today’s project into two challenges Mojo Monday and SU-Only Challenges.
