I wanted to make a special handmade gift as a thank you for my Sunday workshop hostess, Therese. As always, I wanted to make something that I haven’t made before because I love to challenge myself and try new things.  After searching blogs for inspiration, I found a super little tutorial at Split-coast Stampers and thought I’d give it a go.  I added one of my latest tag creations, a little cello bag and some yummy colourful boiled lollies.  Here it is. What do you think?

2012 In Colours

Last year I made these little gift cards with the matching box as the lucky door prize for my first ever workshop.  I was reminded of them when I was preparing for a workshop that I have booked for this weekend and thought it might be good to share them again.  You may have noticed that I absolutely love make sets of cards and, in particular, I love making gift card sets and always make a special set for my workshops.

I just love this little in-colour set and the stamp set Easy Events has been a staple of mine.  I have used this set over and over and to make the most of it, I have cut the sentiments off each stamp so I can mix and match them all.  This set showcases five of the eight stamps.

If you would like to share a creative morning, afternoon or evening with a group of friends in your own home, contact me at tania_willis@bigpond.com or give me a call on 0401173203.

Happy crafting.

Treat Holder

Ok…now I know I’m two days behind and promised to share this on Monday.  The trouble with cameras is you need to keep an eye on your batteries!!  Anyway…now they are all charged up and ready to go again, I’m quick posting tonight to share my treat holder as promised.

If you look closely, you can just see a  foil covered choccy egg in a cello bag.  These little gifties are going to be great for Easter treats.

Workshop Rewards

Hello everyone

I hope you have been enjoying your weekend. I have been super busy creating a homemade lucky door prize for my next workshop.  I’m super pleased with this creation and I hope the person that wins it loves it as much as I do.

Inspiration for the gift cards came from a fab little blog hosted by Debby Hughes called Lime Doodle.  Isn’t that a great name?  The little banners caught my eye and I just had to use them on this set.  I made them by cutting 1cm x 3cm strips from scraps of my current favourite paper.  I then used the 3.2cm square punch to punch the tails.  It takes a bit of lining up to get it right but is much neater and easier than using snips.

Miss Fancy Pants provided me with inspiration for the gift holder.  I have changed the measurements on mine to ensure the gift cards and envelopes fit.  I cut a 9cm strip of the designer series paper.  I scored across at 9cm, 13cm and 22cm and rounded off the end at 24.5cm using one of my large ribbon holders to mark up.  Here is the template.

I have tied ribbon around the top of the lower flap and the top flap slides behind the ribbon to close.  You may also notice that I have positioned the tag so that the flap can be held behind it to keep it all in place.  I’ve tied the gift cards and envelopes onto the holder using ribbon.  I will share another example tomorrow where I have tied a cellophane bag filled with Easter eggs on to the back of the holder.

I’ve entered the holder into the CAS-ual Friday challenge

Marker Layering

Today’s project highlights another technique.

As mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I was lucky enough to get the entire set of Stampin Up! Markers for my upcoming birthday. These fabulous markers now give me the chance to learn something new, marker layering. This week’s Splitcoast Weekly Inkling Newsletter covered this gorgeous technique with a tutorial presented by Karen Barber so I thought I’d give it a go whilst making a get well card for a fellow demonstrator. This technique is a first for me so I still need a lot more practise but I really enjoyed it and will be using it more often.  In fact, I think I could seriously get addicted to this technique.  There’s only one problem.  When I was seacrhing through my stamp sets for just the right stamp to use on this project, I realised that I don’t have many outline stamps so I have used a retired hostess set, Fast and Fabulous. You could get similar results from the latest hostess set, Simply Soft. Looks like I will need to do some more shopping!

I used the following splitcoast sketch as inspiration.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies
Stamp Sets: Fast and Fabulous (retired), Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Rose Red, Hostess Designer Series Paper, Cheerful Treat, Water colour paper
Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Markers: Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade
Tools: Paper Cutter, Scallop Edge Border, Blender Pen
Sticky Bits: Snail

Happy Stamping!

Happiest Birthday Wishes

I was one super lucky demonstrator this month because, to my fabulous surprise, I received my first birthday card from Stampin’ Up! offering me an extra 15% off my first purchase for the month. So, this along with my usual discount, gave me 35% off anything I wanted – yipee – shopping time! Super excited…I ordered the collection of markers as my pressie from hubby (he loved the idea…of course). OMG! I couldn’t believe it when they arrived…soooo…pretty and they come in a fantastic storage box. They bring back memories of when I just had to have a brand spanking new set of textas every year at back to school time.

Today’s project is a shout out to one of my fab Inkydayz friends who is hosting a workshop during Sale-A-Bration. She loves Concord Crush and when I ordered my markers I chose the exclusive hostess Designer Series Paper – Cheerful Treat as one of my freebies.  Yep, demonstrators get the hostess benefits too!  This paper is so gorgeous and teams up beautifully with Concord Crush and one of my all time faves, Lucky Limeade.

I’ve entered this card in the latest Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and used my brand new markers to stamp the multi-coloured sentiment. What do you think?
