The Perfect Gift

hearts a flutter gift card

Inspired by a gorgeous card I found on pinterest, I whipped up this gift card holder for a Stampin’ Up! Gift Card for a friend of mine who was looking for the perfect gift for a work colleague who loves Stampin’ Up!  Now I might be biased, but I can’t think of a better gift for a Stampin’ Up! addict if you ask me.

A few how tos:

  • Run a few pieces of your DSP through the honeycomb embossing folder and cut out to make perfect hexagons fast.
  • To reduce cut through, use no tabs on your multipurpose platform when using this embossing folder with DSP, Very Vanilla and Whisper White card stock.
  • Crumple your seam binding, make two loops and tie a piece of linen thread around the centre to make a four loop bow.
  • Punch out 2 of each scallop, crumple each and layer from largest scallops to smallest on top.  Attach with a mini brad.

Stampin Up! Oh Hello Bundle

I’m currently working on a collection of designs for my next class using the gorgeous Oh Hello stamp and framelits bundle.  This is my absolute favourite set in the Occasions catalogue and I’ve loved playing around with the collection, along with a number of other new products that are featured on this card.

Oh Hello Bundle

  • Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point rocks it in the colour stakes.
  • The NEW Borders Scoring Plate for your Simply Scored is a cool tool that allows you to add interest to plain card.  Cut with the matching Framelits to give you a professional finish.

Border Plate and Framelits

  • Sunshine and Sprinkles Chevron DSP as background keeps this design on trend.

  • Make a flower using the Creped Filter Paper.  Here’s HOW:
  1. Layer a rectangle piece of Creped Filter Paper on a piece of copy paper and punch out around 10 scallop circles.
  2. Mix up about 6 drops of Daffodil Delight with Isocol (available from your local chemist) in one of your Stampin Up Spritzers and spray each piece liberally to build up your colour.  Fast drying dye – awesome!
  3. Cut each scallop towards the centre on every second scallop leaving approx 5 mm in the centre.
  4. Gently crumple each scallop, then lay them all on top of each other.
  5. Pierce the centre with your trusty paper-piercing tool.
  6. Pop a 4.8mm brad through to hold them all together.
  7. Gently crumple each layer and arrange to cover your brad until you are happy with how your flower looks.
  8. Use the brad to attach the flower to your sentiment panel.

Hearts a Flutter Class

Well…what a wonderful day I had today!  I just love classes and today’s Hearts a Flutter Class was so much fun! I made three clean and simple cards designs for the class so that the focus could be on the Hearts a Flutter stamp and framelits bundle. The great news is that the group got their creative mojo happening and changed things up by using the new embossing folders, the border scoring tool, alternative sentiments and working with different placement. Their creations were simply stunning.  The sad news is…I forgot to take photos so I can only show you the original designs.  But you get the picture.  Hopefully…you too can use these designs to get your creative mojo going.

Hearts a Flutter Class1

  • A piece of Raspberry Ripple Stitched Ribbon tied in a knot brings everything together.
  • A strip of basic grey is punched using the scallop ribbon border punch and adhered to the DSP so only half of the strip is peeking out from behind the DSP.
  • Each heart is layered using dimensionals with the final sentiment layer layered on a stack of thin dimensional pieces.  I love how the sentiment looks like it’s floating.

Hearts a Flutter2

  • The large Raspberry Ripple heart contrasts beautifully with Very Vanilla and Basic Grey pulls it all together.
  • Heart a Flutter 3Pool Party, Raspberry Ripple and Basic Grey all make their mark in the shape of a heart on this card.  The small Basic Grey heart adds a little something extra to bring attention to the sentiment.

Patterned Occasions

Tomorrow is my rescheduled occasions catalogue launch and I’m so excited.  I had to cancel last weekend due to illness and I was so disappointed as I hate letting people down.  Everyone has been so understanding and are all still coming tomorrow and a few people who were unable to make it last week have signed up now, so the class will be even better!

I thought I’d share one of the prizes I’m giving away tomorrow.

Patterned Occasions Launch Prize launchPrize2

At workshops and launches, I always share a few prizes and I like to give away a combination of product, samples of product and handmade items.  Here’s a little handmade prize that I am super excited about.  This is a box of 6 emergency gift card holders with 10 Patterned Occasions stamped tags and scallop circles so they can be made up as needed.

This little set is inspired by a tutorial from the Spring Edition of Create with Connie and Mary. If you haven’t found this blog yet, head on over and check out their site.  I’m enjoying learning new techniques and ideas to share with you. I kept the main components of the design because I really loved it but was busting to use the simply gorgeous Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP and the honeycomb embossing folder from the new catalogue. Let me know what you think…I love to read your comments.
